How to share availability with friends
Friends can compare calendars in a chat until a day works. An OpenCal link shows your free times. A friend who signs in sees times when both people are free.
How do I share my availability with a friend?
OpenCal gives you one link that shows your open times. Sign in with Google or Microsoft and choose which calendars count as busy. Send the link to a friend. Anyone who opens it sees your open times for the next two weeks and can page ahead up to 90 days. OpenCal is free.
Can my friend see when we are both free?
Yes, a friend who signs in on your OpenCal link sees the times when you are both free. The page shows "Times that work for you" and your name. The OpenCal server compares both calendars and sends each of you only the shared free times. The shared view compares two people: you and the signed-in friend. For three or more friends, use a group poll.
Will my friends see what I am doing?
No, OpenCal shows your friends only your open times. Event titles, places and guests stay on the OpenCal server.
How do I share my free times in a group chat?
OpenCal copies your open times as text when you press Copy times on your OpenCal page. The text ends with your link, after "Book a time:" when booking is on or "See my open times:" when booking is off. Paste the text into the chat.
How do I pick one time for a whole group of friends?
Make a group poll. Send the poll link to the chat. Nobody needs an account. Each friend types a name and marks the times they are free. The poll shows how many friends are free at each time and lists the best times. A friend can change an answer later from the same browser.
Can I show only evenings and weekends?
Yes, OpenCal can show only evenings and weekends. In Settings under Hours, turn on any day of the week and give each day its own ranges. For example, set Monday to Friday from 6 to 10 and Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 6. OpenCal shows open times only during those hours.
Can I share my times without letting people book?
Yes, OpenCal can show your times with booking turned off. Choose "No one can book" beside Bookings. Your link then shows times only. To let a friend book, choose "Anyone can book". Your friend signs in and picks a time.
What does it cost?
OpenCal is free.
