How to share iCloud calendar availability with anyone
iCloud lets you share a calendar privately with people who use iCloud or publicly with anyone who has the link. OpenCal reads your iCloud calendar and shows only your open times to Google and Outlook users.
How do I share an iCloud calendar with someone?
On iCloud.com, open the calendar's sharing options and add the person's email address, or send them an OpenCal link. Apple's steps are: go to icloud.com/calendar, select the button next to the calendar's name, add the email address under Sharing With, choose Allow editing or Read-Only, then select Done and Save. Apple says: “When you share a calendar privately, your invitees must have an Apple Account and use iCloud in order to use the calendar.” Apple Support: Share a calendar on iCloud.com, fetched October 8, 2026.
How do I share an iCloud calendar with Google or Outlook users?
Turn on Public Calendar on iCloud.com and send the link, or send an OpenCal link that shows only your free time. Apple says: “An invitee doesn't need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.” Apple's steps are: go to icloud.com/calendar, select the button next to the calendar's name, turn on Public Calendar, then email the calendar or copy the link. Apple's page lists no setting that hides event details on a public calendar. Apple Support published this information on the same page, fetched October 8, 2026.
How does OpenCal read my iCloud calendar?
OpenCal connects to iCloud with your Apple Account email and an app-specific password. The server reads your iCloud calendars over CalDAV. OpenCal asks iCloud only for each event's start, end, repeat rule, status and free/busy setting. OpenCal encrypts the app-specific password with AES-256-GCM before storing it.
How do I make an app-specific password for iCloud?
Apple creates app-specific passwords at account.apple.com, and you paste one into OpenCal. Apple's steps are: sign in at account.apple.com, select App-Specific Passwords in the Sign-In and Security section, then select Generate an app-specific password. Apple says: “To generate and use app-specific passwords, your Apple Account must be protected with two-factor authentication.” You can revoke a password from the same page. Apple Support: Sign in to apps with your Apple Account using app-specific passwords, fetched October 8, 2026.
What does the other person see on my OpenCal link?
The other person sees only your open times and never your iCloud events. OpenCal can combine iCloud with Google and Microsoft calendars on the same link. A visitor who signs in with Google or Microsoft sees the times that work for both of you and can book one. OpenCal can add bookings to a Google or Outlook calendar, but not to iCloud.
What does it cost?
OpenCal is free.
