Show your company Teams calendar on a scheduling link
Many companies block outside apps from reading their Teams calendars. OpenCal reads your Teams week from your screen in your browser and adds those busy times to your scheduling link.
Why can't my scheduling link read my company Teams calendar?
Your company's Microsoft settings determine whether an outside app can connect to your work account. Microsoft's Entra ID documentation says admins can turn off user consent or allow consent only for apps from verified publishers. When user consent is off, an admin must approve the app before it can read your calendar.
Calendly's help page describes the same result: "Some organizations use Microsoft security policies that require an admin to approve third-party apps like Calendly." Users who are not admins must contact their Microsoft admin. The link cannot see that calendar until an admin approves the app.
How does OpenCal read a Teams calendar?
Open the week view in the Teams or Outlook desktop app. In OpenCal, go to Settings, then Other calendars, and press Read from screen. Pick the Teams window when your browser asks which window to share. OpenCal takes one frame and stops the capture. OpenCal finds the hour labels, weekday row, and busy blocks, then reads the text in your browser. You review the blocks in a preview and can delete or change any block before OpenCal saves it.
Does the screenshot leave my browser?
The screenshot is never uploaded or stored. OpenCal sends only the start and end time of each busy block to its server. Titles, people, places, and notes never reach the server. OpenCal stores the busy times encrypted with AES-256-GCM.
Does OpenCal keep my Teams calendar up to date by itself?
OpenCal does not reread the calendar automatically. Each read takes one press of Read from screen and one window pick because browsers require you to choose the window each time. Read your Teams week again when it changes. Settings shows when each calendar was last read.
What else can I connect if my company allows it?
If your company allows outside apps, sign in with your work Microsoft account, and OpenCal reads that calendar each time your link opens. The Chrome and Edge extension reads Outlook on the web while you are signed in. If your calendar has a private .ics address, OpenCal reads that feed when your link opens, at most every 10 minutes.
What does the person I send the link to see?
The recipient sees your free time across all your calendars, including the Teams busy times you read from your screen. The recipient never sees event titles, places, or guests. If the recipient signs in with Google or Microsoft, OpenCal shows only the times that work for both of you.
