OpenCal and Google Calendar appointment schedules
Google Calendar appointment schedules work with a free personal Google account. A free account provides one booking page, and checking secondary calendars requires a paid Google plan. OpenCal is free and checks Google, Microsoft and iCloud calendars together. Google's terms come from its Calendar Help pages, fetched October 8, 2026.
What are Google Calendar appointment schedules, and what is OpenCal?
Google Calendar appointment schedules are booking pages inside Google Calendar. Google says you can create one with "A personal Google Account or Workspace account." OpenCal is a free app that shows open times from Google, Microsoft and iCloud calendars on one link.
Are Google Calendar appointment schedules free?
Google Calendar appointment schedules are free with limits. Google's Help says: "With a personal Google Account or Workspace Business Starter plan, you can create a single booking page to let others schedule appointments on your calendar." Google lists these features as requiring an eligible Google Workspace or Google One subscription: "Create more than one appointment schedule", "Send automatic email reminders", "Check availability across multiple calendars", "Accept payments for appointments" and "Verify emails to prevent spam bookings". OpenCal is free and has no paid plan.
Can a free Google booking page check my other calendars?
A free Google booking page does not check secondary calendars. Google's Help says: "To check availability from secondary calendars, you need to have an eligible Google Workspace or Google One plan." On an eligible plan, Google checks "your primary calendar and any calendars that you own, manage, or are subscribed to." OpenCal checks every calendar you connect at no cost, including several Google accounts, personal and work Microsoft accounts, and one iCloud account. OpenCal also adds Outlook on the web through its Chrome and Edge extension and accepts any private .ics address.
Can my visitor see the times that work for both of us?
On OpenCal, a visitor who signs in with Google or Microsoft sees only times that work for both people. The OpenCal server compares the two calendars, so neither person receives the other's busy times. Google's appointment schedule Help pages fetched for this comparison do not describe a view that compares the booker's calendar.
How do I add a company Teams calendar to my booking link?
OpenCal adds a company Teams calendar with Read from screen. Microsoft's Entra ID documentation says admins can turn off user consent or allow it only for apps from verified publishers, and then an admin must approve the app. In OpenCal, open your Teams or Outlook desktop week view, press Read from screen and pick that window. The screenshot never leaves your browser. OpenCal stores only the busy times, encrypted. Each read uses one press and one window pick, so you read your week again when it changes.
What does Google Calendar appointment scheduling do that OpenCal does not?
Google appointment schedules live inside Google Calendar, so you can set them up without another account. Google's settings include a maximum number of bookings per day and guest permissions. With an eligible paid plan, Google adds payments, automatic email reminders, email verification for bookers and up to 20 co-hosts. OpenCal has no co-hosts, payments or reminders. To find a time with several people, OpenCal has a free group poll. OpenCal sends no email itself. Google or Outlook sends the invite when you turn on adding bookings to your calendar.
