OpenCal vs YouCanBookMe's free plan
YouCanBookMe's free plan checks one calendar on one booking page. OpenCal is free and counts every calendar you connect as busy. YouCanBookMe's terms come from its pricing page and its Calendar Overlay announcement, fetched October 8, 2026.
What are YouCanBookMe and OpenCal?
YouCanBookMe is a booking page tool with a free plan and paid Individual, Professional and Team plans. OpenCal is a free app that shows your open times from all your calendars on one link. A visitor can book a time through either app.
What does YouCanBookMe's free plan include?
YouCanBookMe's Free plan lists "1 calendar connection" and "1 booking page". Its pricing page says the free plan can "Check 1 calendar for availability (Google, Apple, Microsoft & more)". The free plan also lists "Customizable confirmation emails & SMS", "Polling for availability", "Single use booking links" and a Chrome extension. The pricing page did not show paid plan prices when fetched, so this page leaves them out. OpenCal is free and has no paid plan.
How many calendars can YouCanBookMe and OpenCal check for free?
YouCanBookMe's free plan checks one calendar. Its Individual plan checks 2, Professional up to 6, and Team 10 per user. OpenCal checks every calendar you connect at no cost, including several Google accounts, personal and work Microsoft accounts, and one iCloud account. OpenCal also reads a Teams or Outlook desktop calendar with Read from screen, Outlook on the web with its Chrome and Edge extension, and any private .ics address.
Can the person booking see times that work for both of us?
Yes, YouCanBookMe and OpenCal both let a booker compare their own calendar with yours. YouCanBookMe's Calendar Overlay lets a booker connect a Google or Microsoft calendar, or a YouCanBookMe or Calendly account, and "will display the times that work for both sides." YouCanBookMe also shows "times when there are clashes so you can decide what you want to prioritize." On OpenCal, a visitor who signs in with Google or Microsoft sees only the times that work for both of you. The OpenCal server compares the two calendars, so neither person receives the other's busy times.
How do I show a company Teams calendar that blocks outside apps?
OpenCal adds it with Read from screen. Microsoft's Entra ID documentation says admins can turn off user consent or allow it only for apps from verified publishers, and then an admin must approve the app. In OpenCal, open your Teams or Outlook desktop week view, press Read from screen and pick that window. The screenshot never leaves your browser. OpenCal stores only the busy times, encrypted. Each read takes one press and one window pick, so you read your week again when it changes.
Can YouCanBookMe and OpenCal run a group poll to find a time?
Yes. YouCanBookMe's free plan lists "Polling for availability". OpenCal has a free group poll. No one needs an account to make or answer an OpenCal poll. Each person types a name and marks the times they are free. The poll shows how many people are free at each time and lists the best times.
What does YouCanBookMe do that OpenCal does not?
YouCanBookMe's free plan lists "Take payments with Stripe", custom booking form questions, and customizable confirmation emails and SMS. It lets you add your logo and text to the booking page. Paid plans add group sessions, automated workflows and a team dashboard. OpenCal has no payments, booking forms, group sessions or team dashboard. OpenCal sends no email itself. Google or Outlook sends the invite when you turn on adding bookings to your calendar.
